Habit Tracker

Not everyone needs to focus closely on every ingredient in every meal.

You may not be interested in tracking, food journaling but are interested in forming new habits and behaviours in a sustainable way.

Many people have a good understanding of nutrition, however face the challenge of not actually implementing positive nutrition habits.

The issue isn’t knowledge, the issue is implementation.

In this case, focusing on habits can be extremely effective and understanding the habit loop can be a great place to start.

Here is an example of a habit checklist:

Set yourself a realistic target for how many times you can confidently practice your new habit. It doesn't have to be every day. You can still progress by consistently practicing over time.

However many days you think you can do, subtract 1 from that number and set that as your weekly target.

That way, anything above that is a bonus. Shrinking the change and leaping over the target get help build confidence.

If you set your target too high and life gets in the way, you might feel deflated and demotivated if you don't hit your target.

If building habits is your focus for this program, we have the FNC Habit Tracker which you can use. It is a Google spreadsheet but doesn’t need a great deal of computer skill.

Alternatively you could use a habit building app and we recommend:

  • Apple - Habit Buddy

  • Android - Habit Bull

No matter whether you use and app or the FNC Habit Tracker, understanding the habit loop is a great step - we’ve linked the Habit Loop article below as step 3.
